VII. Omega in Support of the USCIS FDNS Component
OSS is providing significant subject matter expertise to the Fraud Detection and National Security Division of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). An Omega Associate, with both significant border security / law enforcement expertise and advanced education, is involved in development of a proposal and project implementation plan to research, analyze and identify the key patterns, linkages and themes in immigration benefit fraud. Omega will outline a plan to gather the above essential data, which is inclusive of systems requirements for the FDNS Data System (DS). Our analysis to include fraud trend analysis and rapidly changing developments in the immigration benefit fraud phenomenon.
USCIS Director Alejandro Mayorkas recently stated that "Immigration fraud undermines the integrity and fairness of our immigration system and can provide dangerous individuals access to our country. Together with our DHS colleagues, we are sharpening our focus on those who would commit fraud to enter or remain in the United States as well as on those who prey on immigrants with the false promise of services and benefits".
Omega's work extends to an analytical capability for identification of previously unknown links and associations based upon the analyzed data. Said data is then to be used in support of a determination of benefit fraud and/or criminal activity patterns and trends. Omega will ultimately make recommendations on effective intelligence data gathering as well as report discoveries and findings. Our Associate is working closely with both FDNS operational units at the HQ and field level as well as domestic and international operations. Liaison has also been established with components of the Federal Intelligence Community (IC).
